On the quiet eastern edge of Takarazuka, in the hillside residential area of Tsutsujigaoka, far from the busy tourist spots, stands a traditional Japanese house called Kohakuken. Here, the spirit of Japan’s mindful way of living still breathes quietly. You will enjoy three kinds of tea (gyokuro, matcha, and hojicha) carefully prepared by the host right before you, along with seasonal sweets, in harmony with nature. The experience begins with purifying at the tsukubai stone basin and calming your breath, inviting you into an “extraordinary moment within the ordinary.” This is a special time to engage all five senses. No formal or complicated tea ceremony manners are expected from you.
